As your Chairman for 2009 may I take this opportunity to wish all our members and friends a very Happy New Year. Hopefully you have all got over the Christmas holidays and are busy putting together any goodies which Santa was kind enough to deliver or maybe you are just contemplating your next challenge for 2009.
As a Club we have a new Committee with one change from last year, Kees Blokland elected as a new member, Kees most of you will identify as our web master. Welcome on board Kees and may I also take this opportunity to thank Sean Scullion who has opted for a well deserved rest this Year. Sean has served the Committee well for many Years now, so make sure Sean you enjoy the break because all good things come to an end very quickly and you are only allowed one year off at a time. (Paul to note, your holidays are nearly over). The full committee is as follows:
Trevor Poots – Chairman
Dennis McNeill – Treasurer
Matthew Poots – Secretary
Iain Johnston – Newsheet
Kees Blokland – Competition Director
Alistair Henry – Display Manager
As a Club we look forward to this new season, hopefully our field will get some good dry and frosty weather so we can get back onto our strip. The hardy annuals amongst us have been flying away with electric toys, which by the way our getting bigger by the month.
At our first committee meeting we decided on our competition calendar for this year, I know Kees will be publishing this shortly, with our 1st funfly competition only a month away its time to shake the balsa dust of the model and get out practicing. (Dennis and I have a month to go before our practice starts) I know this competition could also be the first for an electric model to compete. No doubt they will soon start to breed.
This year we are also planning to hold the very first IMAC competition on these shores supported by IMAC UK and have already commitment from the best UK Pilots to attend so this is something to look forward to over the May Bank Holiday weekend (23rd and 24th). Details will be posted on our Club and Matthew’s website.
So in the meantime, keep up the indoor, keep your wellies handy and look forward to a great season.
